Stage
What does Pre-Seed mean? Ask 10 people and get 10 different answers. That’s because Pre-Seed is a spectrum.
We focus on companies that are post-product launch and have their 1st customer secured. Why? We like builders. And in this day and age - it’s easy and oftentimes free to build and ship product using low-code and no-code tools. So the barrier between talking about the thing and doing the thing isn’t capital, it’s a mindset. We believe that investing in builders is good business sense and that they are more capable of creating real value to themselves, to us and by extension to our LPs.
Valuation
We focus on companies that are raising $1-3M rounds on a <$10M valuation.
Thesis
We care about companies closing health access and wealth inequality gaps for overlooked communities. These problems are close to the founder’s heart. As a Black woman, she has experienced both and is excited about solving important problems in her lifetime and working alongside founders who are just as passionate.
Founder profile
The founders we’re looking for are doers, deep learners and constantly pushing towards excellence. This means that they are building on an insight that they have gained through an “earned secret”. They’ve built enough expertise in a specific area to have a unique point of view on a market that gives them the keys to building a powerful company.
Process
We are thoughtful about building our fund as a company, just like you. As founders, you are our customers, and we have organized our fund in order to serve you effectively.
That starts with a diligence form to replace the 30 minute sourcing/screening call that you are usually going through. After you fill it out, we review your company over 4-6 weeks to understand if you are a good fit for what we’re looking for.
We see our work together as a long term relationship where we leverage our expertise as investors and entrepreneurs and our extensive networks across various industries to help you grow your business. After our first check into your first round, we develop a set of KPIs with you that can help guide the growth of your business. Once you hit your targets, this unlocks additional capital from us.
